In demanding environments characterized by chemical spills, high EMI, particulate dust, and operators wearing heavy work gloves, optical touch solutions face critical limitations. Our 5-wire resistive touch screens solve these challenges. Unlike traditional 4-wire architectures, where both coordinate axes are split between the top cover sheet and bottom substrate, 5-wire technology places all coordinate calculations on the glass underlay substrate.

The flexible top sheet acts purely as a voltage probe. This means even if the top protective sheet is scratched, punctured, or slightly deformed, the electrical coordinates continue to measure accurately without drifting. The touch panel maintains fully functional touch registration and linearity, ensuring uninterrupted production processes.

What is the structural difference between 4-wire and 5-wire resistive touch panels?
In 4-wire designs, coordinate axes are split: one axis on the flexible top polyester film, and the other on the bottom glass substrate. Under heavy wear or dynamic temperature changes, the top layer shifts, leading to coordinate drift and eventual failure. In a 5-wire touch screen, both X and Y coordinates are calculated on the bottom glass substrate using a resistive pattern around the perimeter. The top sheet acts as a voltage probe. This means scratching or wearing down the top film will not affect the coordinate accuracy of the touch panel.
What optical bonding options do you offer for your industrial touch panels?
We provide both liquid optical clear adhesive (LOCA) and solid OCA optical bonding services. For outdoor, marine, and high-vibration medical environments, optical bonding eliminates the internal air gap between the touch panel and the LCD display. This reduces internal reflections, increases display contrast, and prevents dust or condensation from forming between the layers.
Can these touch screens withstand contact with solvents, petrochemicals, or heavy dust?
Yes. The top polyester sheets of our touch panels are treated with chemical-resistant hard coatings. This protects the display from industrial cleaners, oils, and chemical splashes. Additionally, when integrated with an appropriate front bezel gasket, they can meet IP65 and NEMA 4/4X standards for dust and water protection.
How does Guangzhou Xiangrui handle custom FPC tail designs?
We offer custom tail configurations. Customers can specify the layout, length, location, and termination connection type of the FPC tail. This allows our touch screen assemblies to drop into existing controller boards and enclosures without needing to redesign surrounding internal hardware.
